As tempting as having all my material wants being met is...I have to say,it would be an empty and lonely exsistance,I would want more from someone and a relationship. So I'd go with the spiritual fullfillemnt, love,a deep bond a connection that lasts.Hell, money and creature comforts don't keep you warm at night and they don't ease lonelyness.

      @Bren-Duh, I agree with Dawn.
it is tough to be struggling, even with the right person, but tougher to treat a relationship as a 'job', where the perfect life setup can become stale...
      Thank you...

I totally agree with Dawn. I have been in both places at some time in my life and having someone with money but not having them to be there for me, was not what I called a life.

My first ex and I talked Sunday and he and I both agreed that when a man travels for a living that it isn't much of a life when married. We are seeing our oldest son going through this now. I asked my ex to talk to our son and he agreed that he would. However, as I told my ex, he will have to make his own mistakes just the same as we did.

Then I was married to someone who I thought I had a wonderful connection with, but he wasn't rolling in money. As it turned out, our life together was worse that the first one. Having a husband who isn't willing to be a good husband and not work at the same time is a bitch. Twenty years before I remarried and I still didn't get it right.

I suppose that I just do not make good choices in life. Therefore, I have decided that I wil never put myself in a situation, to where I have to make that decision again. Peace of mind is what I seek now more than anything else in this world.

Peace of mind, and a sense of security...knowing that person is going to be there no matter what...where I've screwed up in mistaking fun and all that for real content or quality.I was too young to get married mabe, yet I feel( and still feel) disgusted that when I got tired of playing around and wanted more...as in a place of our own,a family, commitment, hopefully growing old together...he did not.Saw it as an shackle and overcontrolling on my part.He had just gotten a promotion and become a manager where he worked...and though the money was nice and very much needed...it went to his head.Nothing worse than being married to someone who blows every thing you save on bullshit, his video games and as I found out later drugs. He assumed I would settle for that and if he gave me what ever I wanted material wise I would be happy...no I don't think so.Where he had millions or not a cent to his name he still was an a******.It was the person underneath that mattered...needless to say,he lost his precious job 4 months later, fired. For what I don't know..I have my suspicions.Money and security is nice, but not in place of what I value more.It can buy alot of things but not everything.

Ha! Well, I guess that leaves more for me! I'll take the cash, Howie! With all the stuff in the world I might not be able to find a perfect relationship, but I think I'd be able to get real close. I'm not all that picky about the company I keep anyway.

Beneath the stars there are the bars
                          That serve the bitter drink...
                          The barman smiles at me,
His wife she gives a secret wink...
                          They listen patiently to me,
                          My story I unfold...
                          I see their faces change,
The lights grow dim I'm losing hold...

I used to be a boy,
My heart was young and supple then
                          But no it's stoney cold,
I'm old and I could use a friend...
My world is not like yours,
I come from somewhere long ago...
But now there's no way back,
I'm lost and I feel so alone...

You can leave me in the air age if you like
But I'd dearly love to go back to my own time....

Life in the air age, isn't all the brochures say...
Life in the air age, it's too dangerous to stay...
Life in the air age, airships crashing every day into the bay...

Life in the air age, it's all highways in the sky...
Life in the air age, all the oceans have run dry...
Life in the air age, it's grim enough to make a robot cry...

I'm not of few words, believe me, it's just that this mac I'm using at work is awful. After a few posts on a thread, I'm not able to read it anymore, it's all blank! Calgon\, take me away!

About the hound dog.....that reminds me of a saying.

When I was but a young girl living deep in the heart of the country, I used to watch my mother crop of the head of a chicken every Saturday. If I had to go to all of that work to have chicken for Sunday lunch, I suppose I would never have it.

I was just thinking how instead of strangling a chicken, she went straight to the task with an axe. :)

"If you can't strangle a chicken, how can you ever make love to a woman"....That has to be about the weirdest saying I have ever heard...I don't want to ask how the person who's responsible for that came up with that particular word of wisdom.Let alone why they would think it would work.*shuddering*.Speaking of killing chickens, apparently my late great grandfather used to have the best fried chicken, butchered his own chickens. He also had an very odd sense of humor:he'd cut off the chicken heads and make little eyeglasses out of wire and place them on the chickenheads, placing both on various plates underneath the napkins...While everyone would freak out screaming,or his wife cussing him out,or my great aunt Clara laughing her ass off and holding conversations with the chicken head...he'd sit back and ignoring everyone eat dinner.never cracking a smile and never laughing.I recall my Dad telling me this story a million times,so now I can imagine where my morbidness at times comes from.I can blame all that on my paternal grandmother's side...her parents.

Dawn, good story. I can just see it now as a televison show with Archy Bunker. hee hee

I know what he meant now. I am just a little brain damaged from not being around men in so long. You are a bad, bad boy.

However, just because you know how to strangle a chicken doesn't mean that you know how to make love to a woman. That is an entirely different art form
